The management team of Vision64 is German and English; Uwe Matt and Alan Twigg.
We founded the company in 2008 to benefit from each others’ strengths. Since then we have helped a very large number of companies in Germany and the UK to improve their rankings and grow their internet business.
Vision64 is located in Kirchheim Teck near Stuttgart, Germany.
We come to work everyday because we want to discover how Google ticks, TODAY. We want to know the things to which Google attaches most importance, TODAY. Everyone is guessing. Companies don’t know where they should be investing their time and money, how to get a return on their investment and even who they should trust.
Search is the most powerful sales-generation machine ever invented. It’s simply amazing. It’s a game changer. It’s beautiful because it can put a business proposition in front of a customer at the very moment that they are searching for it. But it’s a challenge, it’s not easy and it doesn’t come for free. It involves thought, commitment, a well-thought out system and a dedication to find out what your customers and Google value the most. We don’t have all the answers, no one does. But we have been coming to work for many years with a determination to find out. We use our discoveries to help people find our customers in Google everyday.
Strokes of Luck
I was really lucky to be born in Sheffield into a very down-to-earth family. I was blessed to have parents that just had loads of faith in us kids, letting us grow up without pressure with an emphasis on play and discovery.
Fortunately, as it turns out, leaving school at the height of the recession in the 1980s was also lucky. Because there were no jobs, I had to be creative to earn money. I started my first entrepreneurial venture aged 19.
In 1994 I booked a holiday to Tenerife with a friend. At the last minute he told me he couldn’t make it. I flew alone and met my wife, Susanne. Luckily she was German, which meant that to be with her I had to leave England, move to Germany, learn German and start again.
When starting a new business you wouldn’t normally consider having absolutely no money and being in debt with a mortgage as a stroke of luck. But for me it was. It forced me to search for different ways to marketing the business. The Internet and in particular the search engines offered a new approach. Getting top positions in Google for my new business and later my customers became my obsession.
And finally, I’m very lucky to have Uwe Matt as my business partner. Eight years ago I didn’t really want a business partner, but Uwe was persistent and persuasive and in the end we agreed to start Vision64. Uwe is the best business partner and we are an excellent team. His strengths are my weaknesses and visa-versa. Above all I value Uwe’s loyalty, honesty, work ethic and his incredible ability to focus and get things finished.
My name is Alan Twigg. I’m married to Susanne, a father of four children, I’m passionate about Argentine Tango, love to play golf and a very, very lucky man. Let me share my luck with you.
With Planning and Purpose
Right from being a child, I’ve always had a passion for computers and technology. I got my first computer (a Commodore 128) aged 10 as a present and I was hooked.
Despite my passion for computers, after school I started an apprenticeship in a local bank near to where I live in Germany. I was interested in investments, credit and opportunities and did well at the bank. I was offered a job and took it. But I wasn’t really what I was looking for.
It didn’t take me long to realize that I wanted to turn my hobby into a career and soon after started a second apprenticeship in computers (system integration) at a local IT company. Now I was having fun and being challenged.
In 2004 while working in IT, I accidently met “Marco” at a barbeque evening. He’d been working in SEO for several years and we got talking. That very same night I found myself getting very enthusiastic about what the future could hold and a new business idea began to form. Marco had effectively set the foundations for my business today.
He helped me to get started and gave me plenty of tips and with a great deal of passion and persistence I was able to make a profit in the first three months of business!
This gave me so much motivation that I sacrificed my entire spare time for SEO and by 2005 I gave up my day job to become self-employed working on affiliate projects.
But more was to come!
Inspired by my successes, I founded RegisterCompass in 2006. RegisterCompass is an online business that analyses domain names based on SEO criteria. I founded this business together with a good friend of mine called “Timo”. It’s still a good profitable business to this day.
The second turning point came after getting to know Alan Twigg. At the time Alan was one of my customers at RegisterCompass. At the beginning we just exchanged views and ideas because we were in a similar line of business. But that was to change.
After talking I started to have new ideas and strategies and recognized that because we have different strengths we could make a good team. I wanted to start a new business with Alan. In 2008 we laid the foundation for our joint venture and started Vision64.
I’ve been very happily married to Diana since October 2011, whom I met during the World Cup in Germany. We both enjoy scuba-diving, travelling and discovering the world – but I’m never without my PC!
